Joshua Tree for which the park is named.

Joshua Tree is located where two distinct desert ecosystems collide. The Mojave and the Colorado intersect within the boundaries of Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua Tree is a fantastic destination for those interested in Outdoor recreation including hiking, biking, horseback riding, rock climbing, bouldering, star-gazing, flowers and wildlife viewing. There are many historic sites, back roads and mines to explore in JTNP.

During the hot temperatures of the day, life appears scarce since the park wildlife is largely nocturnal. The park features reptiles and animals adapted to the scarcity of water and high temperatures by going underground and coming out in the cooler night time temperatures.

Joshua Tree enjoys beautiful weather year-round. Each new season offers something different in terms of natural splendor. Although the park is hot in the summer months, the evenings and nights are still mild enough for stargazing. September through May is especially ideal for daytime exploration in cooler temperatures. Winter rains the rare occasional snowfall produce blankets of wildflowers in the spring.
